Creating Conditions For High Performance

From the 2023 Future of Work Conference, hear Hayley’s career journey through Hospitality, Retail, FMCG, and latterly in Sport. The challenges, the best bits and what draws them all together, creating conditions for people to be successful in work.

Finding her place in small medium size businesses, with lean resource and budgets, Hayley looked at the lessons she’s learned as a People leader, the challenges and proudest impact moments, alongside what the future could hold and how we can start laying the foundations.

Formula E Chief People Officer

Hayley is the Chief People Officer at Formula E, with nearly 15 years of experience across Hospitality, Beauty, Retail and Sport. Hayley has grown her career in fast-moving, innovative brands, that play to her passion of creating impactful high-performance environments.

Prior to Formula E, Hayley left the world of Beauty and Retail, moving from Liz Earle Beauty Company and Walgreens Boots Alliance, entering into the Sports industry within England Rugby (RFU), returning back to a small-medium sized organisation playing a generalist role. There she built a team and enhanced their focus on culture, engagement and strategic initiatives, working closely with the Leadership Team to translate the high-performance mentality known on the pitch, into the office.

Within Formula E, Hayley navigates the People landscape in leadership, partnering, culture and engagement, recruitment, talent and L&D to support leaders in creating conditions for teams to flourish. Hayley's focus is partnering with the CEO and Executive team to ensure the People agenda runs through all strategy and decision-making, representing the employees' voice to ensure we support and enable our greatest asset, our people, to be their most effective.

Alongside being a mum to two little ones, Hayley is passionate about showing you can have a career and be present as a parent, working hard to role model authentic, inclusive leadership.

Charlotte is a director at specialist advertising agency Woodreed. She's an accomplished speaker, writer and facilitator, with a unique view on employee engagement and internal communications, having spent equal parts of her career in consumer, then employee communications. Having worked for clients spanning every industry sector, including Marks & Spencer, The National Lottery, Volkswagen Group, Jaguar Land Rover, Guinness World Records and the NHS, she brings the rigour of consumer marketing into internal communications. She is passionate about raising the profile, standards and effectiveness of internal communication, believing employees AND customers deserve the same reverence, effort and creativity in communication. Appearing on stages at home and abroad, she's talked for senior leadership summits and in-house teams as well as for the CIPD, Institute of Internal Communications, Engage for Success and at ABTA's travel convention in Malta. She's a regular chair for Engage Business Media's events and delivers training for the IoIC.
